Primary Mucosa-Associated Lymphoid Tissue (MALT) Lymphoma of Thyroid Gland Arising from Coexisting Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis: A Case Report

چکیده
piration cytology (FNAC) has increased to around 5060% (1), chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis and small cell undifferentiated carcinoma (anaplastic carcinoma) are still being confused with thyroid lymphoma (2). No reports concerning the ultrasonographic (US) and computed tomographic (CT) features of primary mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma have yet been published in the Korean radiological literature. We report herein on a case of MALT lymphoma of the thyroid gland in a patient with coexisting Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, and the pathology results on FNAC mimicked lymphocytic or subacute thyroiditis. We also include MALT lymphoma’s characteristic imaging findings.

Co-Occurrence of Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma and Mucosa-Associated Lymphoid Tissue Lymphoma in a Patient with Long-Standing Hashimoto Thyroiditis
Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is a common affliction of the thyroid gland, accounting for 70% to 80% of all thyroid cancers, whereas mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma of the thyroid gland is uncommon. The simultaneous occurrence of both malignancies is extremely rare. We report the case of a patient with both PTC and MALT lymphoma in the setting of Hashimoto thyroiditis. An ...

Primary thyroid lymphoma (PTL) is a rare cause of malignancy that occurs in 0.5% of cases with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. The most common subtype is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), followed by mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. We described the case of a 70-year-old man who was diagnosed with MALT lymphoma in the background of autoimmune thyroiditis with focal area of DLBCL...

We present here two cases of incidental extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT lymphoma) showing prominent plasma cell differentiation associated with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT). Histological examination demonstrated that both lesions exhibited HT including lymphoplasmacytic infiltration with the formation of germinal centers, destruction of the no...

Extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) of the thyroid gland is uncommon. Even though its natural history is not well defined, it is known to be indolent course. We present a case of primary MALT thyroid lymphoma with the serial sonographic findings in the patient presenting as the focal nodule. A 45-year-old woman visited our hospital for neck examination....
متن کاملPrimary mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue thyroid lymphoma: a rare thyroid neoplasm of extrathyroid origin
Primary thyroid lymphoma is a rare malignancy, representing 2-8% of all thyroid malignancies and 1-2% of all extranodal lymphomas. The majority of cases concern non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of B cell origin, following by Hodgkin's disease, T cell lymphomas and rarely marginal zone B-cell mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphomas. MALT lymphomas have been associated with long-standing autoimm...
